So... A while ago I was bored, and I decided to make myself un-bored by checking something off that big list of random goals I keep lying around. I resolved to build a somewhat accurate model of my car out of Lego. Unfortunately, Phoebe the ‘66 Thunderbird’s styling consists of a whole lotta curves, creases, and general fiddly bits that make it not the easiest thing to recreate with plastic rectangles:
However, I did find this fantastic 1/22 scale model of the ‘66 Thunderbird convertible from “Thelma and Louise” made by Flickr user Mad Physicist:
So I decided to use that as a starting point, though I changed a few details here and there whenever I thought I could improve it or I didn’t have enough of the right parts (orange is not the easiest L ego color to work with). I also had to design a roof for it since, unlike Th elma and Louise’s car, mine is a hardtop. In the end I had to make a lot of compromises , but I think I managed to make it recognizable enough. So without further ado, here’s more photos of the finished model:
I’ve already decided that when/if I eventually decide to dismantle Lego Phoebe, I will send it off the top of the staircase. I t just feels right...

Thanks! I’ve seen other people commission lego models of their cars, which is cool, but I decided it would be cheaper and more fun to make the thing myself ;)

It actually took longer to make than most of my usual projects due to o ther things going on and the fact that it used like 90% of all my orange parts, but it was totally worth it. It is now the crown jewel of my Lego car collection :)
